On Target Indoor Shooting Range, LLC is Orange County’s premier indoor shooting facility and a full-service firearm store, offering expert-level training, comprehensive retail services, and an unmatched shooting experience. Established in 1992, we bring decades of dedication to firearm education, safety, and recreational shooting for both first-time visitors and seasoned enthusiasts. Our facility features two shooting bays with a total of 20 lanes at 25 yards, providing a safe, controlled, and welcoming environment for individuals, families, and professionals alike.

On Target Indoor Shooting Range Safety Rules & Policies
Please review these requirements before visiting or entering the range. These rules are part of entry and range use.
1. Entry Requirements (Mandatory for Everyone)
- All customers and guests aged 18 and older must possess a valid government-issued photo ID.
- Everyone must sign a full Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnification Agreement before accessing the range. Waivers are valid for 12 months.
- You must affirm (under penalty of perjury) that you are not a prohibited person under federal (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)) or California law. This includes felons, certain misdemeanants (including domestic violence), individuals with mental health adjudications, those under domestic violence restraining orders, unlawful users of controlled substances, and others. False statements will result in immediate removal and possible prosecution.
- All firearms and ammunition brought onto the premises are subject to inspection.
- Only California-compliant firearms and magazines are permitted.
- Firearms must be unloaded and cased (or holstered for uniformed, on-duty law enforcement) upon entry. No uncased or exposed firearms are allowed anywhere except at the firing line. Customers with a valid CA Concealed Carry Weapons Permit must follow concealed carry laws at all times.
2. Firearm Rental Policy
- We do not rent firearms to single shooters.
- Exceptions:
- You have been a range member for longer than 10 days.
- You have a working firearm of your own in your possession at the range.
- You are active-duty military or an active law enforcement officer (must provide proof of active service).
- Renters must be 21 years of age or older.
- Exceptions:
- Active-duty military ages 18 and older (proof of active-duty required).
- Customers aged 18-20 who possess a valid hunting license may rent shotguns and certain rifles. (Proof of valid hunting license required.)
- You must use ammunition purchased from On Target when renting a firearm.
- Only one rental firearm per lane at a time.
- Every new or unrecognized customer renting a firearm must complete a safe-handling demonstration (loading and clearing with a dummy round) at the counter before rental.
3. Shotgun Policy
- For range safety, you may only shoot slug ammunition purchased from On Target. Anyone found having ammunition other than slugs purchased from On Target will be asked to leave.
- Notify staff at check-in if you will be shooting a shotgun.
- Targets must be placed no closer than the rubber backstop or 25 yards.
4. Rifle Policy
- Rimfire and pistol-caliber rifles may be shot on any lane without a rifle card.
- Lanes 16–20 are designated for centerfire rifles (.223 and above).
- You may only shoot .223 caliber and higher if you possess a valid rifle card.
- To obtain a Rifle Card:

- Complete the online safety briefing: View safety briefing
- Demonstrate proficiency by shooting 3 rounds within a 5-inch spread under the supervision of an On Target employee. This can be done during any normal business hours.
- Rifle cards are valid for 2 years.
- Rifle Card Renewal: Contact us at info@ontargetrange.com for a link to the free online renewal safety briefing (no charge, no proficiency demonstration required). Must have previous Rifle Card on record within the last two years.
5. Shooting with a Minor Policy
- Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- All minors must have a waiver signed by a legal guardian.
- If the legal guardian is present, they may sign on-site.
- If accompanied by someone other than the legal guardian, the guardian must complete the Parent Permission Form on our website in advance, naming the authorized adult. If the accompanying adult is not properly listed, the minor will not be allowed to shoot or enter the range area.
6. General Range Rules
- Always keep the firearm pointed downrange.
- Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
- Always keep your firearm unloaded until you are in the shooting booth and ready to fire.
- All firearms must be cased and uncased at the firing line. We have a zero-tolerance policy. Those who break this rule will be asked to leave for the day.
- Keep the action of your firearm open when you are not at the firing line and the firearm is sitting on the shooting bench.
- Treat every firearm as if it is loaded at all times.
- Eye and ear protection are required at all times while in the bay. They must be in place before entering the bays. Eye protection must be ANSI Z87+ rated.
- Everyone must enter the bay one door at a time.
- No rapid fire, double-tapping or holster-drawing during normal business hours.
- Only one shooter at a time may be in the lane.
- Smoking and/or vaping is not permitted in the building at any time.
- No food or drink is permitted in the bay.
- Targets must be no closer than 7 yards for handguns and rifles with pistol calibers (special circumstances excepted).
- Targets must be no closer than the rubber backstop for shotguns and high-powered rifles.
- If you need assistance with a firearm that is jammed or has malfunctioned, leave the firearm at the shooting bench. Ask for assistance from an On Target employee.
- Please separate paper from plastics into the provided trash cans. Do NOT throw live ammunition into ANY of the trash cans.
- Once you have finished shooting, please push your brass downrange to help prevent tripping.
- If you are under the influence of alcohol and/or impairing drugs, you are not permitted on the premises. This includes marijuana, even if used for medicinal purposes.
- A person who is not legally allowed to own or possess firearms is not permitted on the premises.
- If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, you are not permitted in the bays due to health and safety concerns.
- Anyone may call “Cease Fire” for a safety concern. Immediately stop shooting, make the firearm safe (unloaded, action open, magazine removed), place it on the bench, and step back. Wait for Range Safety Officer (RSO) clearance to resume.
- Prohibited ammunition: No steel-core, armor-piercing, tracer, incendiary, or frangible rounds. Tracer rounds are illegal within the state of CA. Any shooter found using them will be held personally liable for any and all damage incurred.
- Targets: Paper or cardboard only. No metal, glass, exploding, or reactive targets.
- Brass pickup is allowed only with RSO permission.
- Follow all directions from On Target Range Safety Officers immediately. Failure to do so will result in removal from the range.
7. Damage, Violations & Enforcement
- Any damage to the range (backstops, ceilings, fixtures, etc.) will result in a minimum repair fee of $50 and may lead to a ban.
- Violations of these rules may result in immediate removal, loss of range privileges, and/or reporting to law enforcement.
- Range Safety Officers are NRA-certified (or equivalent) and trained in emergency response.
8. Emergency & Health Procedures
- In case of injury or medical emergency, immediately call “Cease Fire,” notify staff, and follow RSO instructions. Staff are trained in first aid and AED use.
- Lead awareness (important for all indoor ranges): Wash hands and face thoroughly after shooting. Those concerned about lead exposure should consult a physician before shooting.
9. Suicide Prevention & Mental Health
- We take mental health seriously, and we care deeply about our patrons. If you or someone with you is in crisis, please speak with staff immediately or call the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
- Secure storage options and safe-storage information are available.
- Staff are trained to recognize warning signs and may deny rental or access if there is concern for self-harm or harm to others.
