Best for Beginners
Level 1 classes are designed for beginner shooters who want to learn firearm safety and marksmanship fundamentals.
Bring Your Own Firearm
Many Level 2, Level 3, and advanced classes require students to bring their own firearm and ammunition.
Rental Note
If you do not own a firearm yet, certain Level 2 classes allow rental firearms for an additional $10 fee.
Prerequisites
Some classes require demonstrated safety, firearm proficiency, or completion of a prior class before enrollment.

Level 1 Classes
Our Level 1 classes are designed for beginner shooters who want to learn the fundamentals of firearm safety and marksmanship. If you have little or no experience shooting, these classes are for you.
Handgun Fundamentals I - Level 1

Beginner handgun instruction with classroom learning and range time.
Handgun Fundamentals I - Level 1
This class is designed specifically for people who have little or no shooting experience. It is taught by NRA-certified instructors. By the end of this class, you will be able to shoot safely and correctly. It includes instruction in the classroom, as well as shooting time on the range. Students must bring valid, government-issued photo identification in order to shoot. We will provide everything else!

Introduction to Shotgun

Introductory shotgun course for new or less experienced shooters.
Introduction to Shotgun
This class is designed for shooters who have little or no experience with shotguns. Our goal with this class is to help students find out which shotgun they want to buy and help those who already own a shotgun become more comfortable with it. Students will learn the correct safety rules and fundamentals needed to use shotguns effectively. They will also learn about the diverse types of shotguns and ammunition in order to come away from the class with a more refined knowledge of how a shotgun works.

- Goal: Help students choose a shotgun or become more comfortable with one they already own
Basic Rifle Class - Level 1

Intro rifle course covering safe handling, rifle fundamentals, and tactical skills.
Basic Rifle Class - Level 1
Our goal in this course is to teach you how to use your rifle safely and correctly. We will teach you rifle fundamentals, AR presentation, and tactical skills. Bring your own rifle and 80 rounds of ammunition. All rifles are welcome, but semi-automatic rifles are preferred. This will be a 2-hour class and will include an On Target Rifle Card.

Level 2 Classes
Our Level 2 classes are designed for shooters who want extra training with their personal firearm to improve firearm handling and shooting accuracy. Students must be able to demonstrate basic safety and proficiency with a firearm before signing up for a class at this level. If you do not own a firearm yet, we have rental firearms available for an additional $10 fee. (Rental guns must use ammunition from On Target.)
Handgun Fundamentals II - Level 2

Extra training with your own handgun to improve transition and confidence.
Handgun Fundamentals II - Level 2
Bring your own gun! Students are led by an NRA-certified instructor through a series of exercises to help transition from a .22lr target pistol to a firearm that is chambered in a larger caliber. Shooters will go through 50 rounds and must supply their own ammunition. (Ammo is available for purchase at On Target.)

Rifle Class - Level 2

A faster-paced rifle class with tactical drills, ballistics insight, and gear setup tips.
Rifle Class - Level 2
Take your skills to the next level! This Level 2 class is packed with fast-paced tactical drills, practical ballistics insight, and hands-on rifle & gear setup tips. Expect 60 rounds of live-fire and expert coaching to improve accuracy, speed, and equipment performance. Bring your own rifle, 60 rounds of ammunition, and 2 magazines. If you don’t own a rifle yet, you may rent one of ours. Prerequisite: Basic Rifle - Level 1

Level 3 Class
Our Level 3 class helps shooters shift their skills from pure precision marksmanship to practical defensive shooting. Shooters must be experienced with their firearms, able to demonstrate proficient firearm handling, as well as being able to shoot accurately.
Intermediate Handgun - Level 3

Practical defensive handgun development with drills beyond basic marksmanship.
Intermediate Handgun - Level 3
Bring your own gun! This 1.5-hour class will give shooters the opportunity to dive deeper into the fundamentals of shooting. They will become more familiar with their personal firearm as they learn how to clear jams, shoot from the low-ready position, practice rapid-fire and double-tap drills, and more. Shooters will go through 50 rounds and must supply their own ammunition. (Ammo is available for purchase at On Target.)

Advanced Level Classes
Our advanced level courses are for shooters who are already proficient and comfortable with their firearms. This includes familiarity with firearm handling: loading and unloading, clearing jams, locking open the action of your firearm, etc.
Introduction to Holster Drawing

Learn how to safely and correctly draw your firearm from a holster.
Introduction to Holster Drawing
In this class, you will learn how to safely and correctly draw your firearm from a holster. We will also share tips on selecting and customizing holsters for future purchases. You will need your own handgun, an outside-the-waistband non-collapsible holster, a sturdy belt, and 50 rounds of ammunition. Make sure you are familiar with your firearm before attending this class.

New CCW Part 1

First half of California’s 16-hour requirement for new CCW students.
New CCW Part 1
This class completes the first half of California's 16-hour requirement for new CCW students. The classroom portion will overlap with CCW renewal students in a 2-night course. Classroom discussion will cover CCW laws, OCSD CCW policy, procedures, tactics, situational awareness, and avoiding confrontations.

New CCW Part 2

Live-fire qualification and completion certificate for new CCW students.
New CCW Part 2
This is an 8-hour class with a 1-hour lunch break. You must complete our New CCW- Part 1 course and the assigned homework before attending this class. This class includes the live-fire qualification of your CCW firearms. The course of fire includes holster-drawing for your primary firearm, double-tap, rapid fire, shooting from retention, etc. at 3-, 5-, and 7-yard distances. Upon completion of training, you will receive a certificate of completion to submit to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for your CCW application.
- Length: 8 hours with a 1-hour lunch break
- Required first: New CCW Part 1 and assigned homework
- Includes: Live-fire qualification of CCW firearms
- Course of fire: Holster-drawing, double-tap, rapid fire, shooting from retention, and more at 3-, 5-, and 7-yard distances
- Completion: Certificate of completion for Orange County Sheriff’s Department CCW application
CCW Renewal Class

OCSD-approved renewal course for Orange County CCW license holders.
CCW Renewal Class
This 8-hour class is approved by OCSD to renew your Orange County CCW license. During the course, we will review CCW laws and requalify each firearm listed on your permit. You may qualify up to 5 firearms during the class. If you wish to add more, you must come in during normal business hours to do so. You will need 24 rounds of ammunition for each handgun. At the end of this class, you will receive a certificate of completion to submit to the sheriff’s department.
- Approved by: OCSD
- Purpose: Renew Orange County CCW license
- Includes: Review of CCW laws and firearm requalification
- Firearms allowed in class: Up to 5 firearms may be qualified during class
- More than 5: Additional firearms must be added during normal business hours
- Bring: 24 rounds of ammunition for each handgun
- Completion: Certificate of completion for the sheriff’s department
Action Pistol Competition

A competition format focused on balancing speed and precision.
Action Pistol Competition
Action Pistol is a competition, not a class. It is a great way to work on balancing speed and precision in a competitive setting. Proficient firearm-handling skills and safety awareness are required to compete. If you have not competed before, it is highly suggested that you come observe and learn how it works before competing. Doors will open at 7:00 am with a safety briefing at 7:15am, followed by the start of the competition at 7:30am. The competition is expected to finish by 9:45am. Participants will assist with repairing targets and breakdown afterwards.
- Type: Competition, not a class
- Best for: Shooters working on balancing speed and precision
- Required: Proficient firearm-handling skills and strong safety awareness
- New competitors: Strongly encouraged to observe before competing
- Schedule: Doors open at 7:00 am, briefing at 7:15am, competition starts at 7:30am, expected finish by 9:45am
- Participant role: Assist with target repair and breakdown afterwards
Hunter Education

This is a Hunters' Education follow-up course. Students must complete an online hunter education course and obtain a GO ID before attending this class. This will be a 4-hour, in-person course.

Gun Cleaning Classes
50 minutes
Hands-on firearm cleaning instruction by firearm type.
Gun Cleaning Classes
We offer 4 different cleaning classes, each focusing on a different type of firearm: semiauto handguns (non-1911s), revolvers, long guns, and 1911s. During this 50-minute class, we'll show you how to disassemble, clean, and reassemble your firearm and instruct you on proper maintenance for your particular firearm.
